QUOTE OF THE MONTH
===========================================================
"The American Dream [is] one of the greatest ideas in the history of human
achievement . . . It thrives today in an age when its core components of freedom
and opportunity are open to more Americans than ever before. It holds a real,
identifiable place in the American heart and mind, and it informs the aspirations
of everyone from farmers to software developers, from detectives to bankers,
from soldiers to social workers . . . It defines us as a people, even as we add
to its meaning with each new chapter in our national experience and our
individual actions."
Dan Rather
Of course, it is called the American Dream because you have to be asleep.
This edition we examine a few items that may wake people up.

HEALTH CARE REFORM
===========================================================
Taking away a tax deduction is the same thing as raising taxes!
Has anyone noticed that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has
reported that Congress could generate billions of dollars in revenue by
eliminating the tax deductibility of both Flexible Spending Accounts and
Health Savings Accounts.
Propaganda: "Choice" - sort of like "Change" - a good sound bite does not
policy make. Mandating that people must buy government
insurance "or else", is not choice.
Having the government run healthcare should be enough to make you sick.
They have yet to show that they can run government responsibly, having them
run healthcare must be the result of the lobbying efforts of the Funeral Directors
of America.

CORPORATE OWNED LIFE INSURANCE AS AN ASSET?

In tough economic times, innovation is the key to survival and avoiding red ink.
Hospitals are leading the way with a program to attract and retain key
talent in this downturn by offering additional benefits to key employees paid for
by a life insurance policy. A life policy is set up for each key employee, which is
paid for by the bank from a letter of credit from the hospital, (who is the owner of the policy).
Excess cash is created each year and the key employees are provided with a vesting
schedule of benefits determined by the hospital.

FINALLY WELLNESS BENEFIT THAT PAYS OFF
===========================================================
People with preventable lifestyle related chronic conditions account for:
88% of all prescriptions written, 72% of all doctors visits,
76% of all inpatient hospital stays according to Managed Care 2003.
The time to shift focus from throwing money at drugs and surgery to correct
life-style maladies is now. Cost cutting in 2009 may consist of educating your
employees and enrolling them in a program designed to actually promote
health, rather than treat illness will be sustainable trend in this economic
environment.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Goldman Sachs is concerned
about the theft of a trading program, which in the wrong hands, could manipulate
the markets.

Of course, it is overtly suggested here that Goldman manipulates the markets;

Don't look for an investigation anytime soon.

Errata: Last month we attributed paradox of our time to George Carlin. He
came back from the grave to let us know that he did not write it. We noticed
the error shortly after sending. (Hat tip to Lynn for also catching it)
